The Aboakyer Festival, Winneba

The Aboakyer Festival is a vibrant cultural celebration held annually on the first Saturday in May in Winneba, a town in the Central Region of Ghana. This festival, which translates to "catching a live animal" in the Fante language, commemorates the migration of the Effutu people from the ancient Western Sudan Empire to their current home in Winneba.
